What Size Wool Do I Need?

When choosing the right size wool traditional cover for your baby, it can be difficult to know exactly what size will fit best.

Things like baby body shape, size and weight, and also what absorbency that's being used underneath can affect the fit and size needed. It can be difficult to buy something online as well, without trying on in store.

I've surveyed a group of current Bumby wool using parents and asked for them to share their kid's details; what weight their child is and what size Bumby wool they are currently using. Here are the general results:

  • Most said SMALL fits a general size range of about ~8-14lbs.
  • Most said MEDIUM fits a general size range of about ~12-25lbs.
  • Most said LARGE fits a general size range of about ~25-35lbs.
  • Mots said XLARGE fits a general size range of about ~30-50lbs.

Remember, wool doesn't have to fit the same as PUL covers in that you need a good leg seal, you can get by with looser legs if you choose to size up or if baby has skinny legs. Just ensure the absorbency underneath is sufficiently sealed to contain any #2's from escaping, and make sure the absorbency is sufficient for your child's wetting needs!

For those who DO want to measure, here also is the measuring chart recommended form the Bumby website as well:)
